Bill B wants to know:
I have peacock cichlids, convict cichlids, and other assorted cichlids living in a 55 gallon aquarium. They are not too big yet, probably a little smaller than the parrot cichlids I have seen in stores. Would parrot cichlids get along with the cichlids I currently have?

You have assorted other cichlids, which sounds a heck of alot like you bought these at a chain store that has no clue what they are selling. You are mixing Africans with South Americans and I can’t figure out why you’d do something like this?
Parrots are slow moving fish, that are not a natually occuring fish either. They are a hybrid, one of the very very few that got popular in a trade where hybridizing is strongly discouraged. I personally think that mouth they have is hideous, but that’s me. They are very slow moving as well but unless you put them in with a very aggressive type, like a Jack Dempsey or Red Devil, they usually can hold up ok. Your Convicts though, in a 55 gallon tank, should they try to mate, will pretty much harass anything that comes by so I’d probably want to know what I have for the Convicts right. Why you have Peacocks in there is beyond me and all I’ll advise is get your Africans their own tank even though you’ve got them to mix, you really want to avoid this.

No
Your tank is a bad enough mixture already without adding to it
It is way too small and you have a mixture of south american cichlids which require soft acidic water and african cichlids which require hard alkaline water
They are a cruel man made hybrid which has had it fins manicured to give it it’s odd shape. They are probably a mixture of gaudy colours which are created by injecting dye under the skin of the fish. Most reputable retailers in the UK refuse to sell them
