0 African Cichlids in a 10 gallon tank
There are some smaller species you can have in a 3ft. tank(shellies for example); but for the majority of the Mbuna you need a min of a 4ft tank.

My friend it is best for African Cichild to be in a approximately 20 gallon tank or more if best. The reason is because they grow to be beautiful fish and they need more space to roam about. If you keep them in a small tank they will be stressed out and lose shape and color good luck!!!!!!
