what is the ideal number of african cichlids i can keep on my 66 gallon tank?

wants to know:


i have around 20 different african cichlids on it from sizes 1 inch to 2 inches. The tank still looks bare to me and thinkin of adding at least 10 more.

    It depends on the kind of african cichlids you have. They can range from a few inches up to a foot… so that is kind of important. I have heard that you need 1 gallon per inch of GROWN fish. So I assume yours are still babies… chances are you may already be overstocked.

    Stop and make a list of what you actually have.

    African cichlids is a VERY large family of fish. They can grow to 1″ or 12″. BIG difference.

    Some are relatively peacefull, others become very agressive as they mature and will beat up smaller or less agressive tankmates.

    Maybe you can have 30, but maybe ONE of your fish will kill the rest and max out the tank all by itself.
