Will asked:
I bought these two fry at the pet store for .20 each (they thought they were feeder fish). By the looks of them they seem like cichlids, but I’m not sure. I took these pictures. I have no idea how to care for them, what they eat or anything, so help asap please.

they look like baby convicts, probably dropped off by someone who unintentionally bred them

They remind me of parrot cichlids but they are not as round. or yeah baby convicts cichlids. That is my guess.

It’s been awhile since I’ve had babies, but they look like convicts. They should be able to eat some crumbled flake food and some frozen brine shrimp if they have any size..its hard to tell.

Hi,
Its very hard to tell as this stage, without many markings/paintings. They seem to match Convict Cichlid shape, ala . However this could change as they mature.
Care wise, they are very easy to look after. If not too easy. They are commonly sold as beginner fish. However, they can only really be housed with other very boisterous fish that will give as good as they get. Convicts (providing they ARE) are very boisterous, but rewarding to look after, growing to good sizes, I have seen a pair reach ~8 inches, but commonly they grow to ~5 inches.
If you have a community tank with neons etc. find a new home for them now, or set up a tank with other rough types, ie Oscars. If you intend to keep them:
This website has a good list of requirements, comments etc.
I hope you do keep them and good luck!

Its very hard to tell because they are too young but they do look like convicts. If you want to read about convicts breeding and about them in their early stages try here:
