what do cichlids newborns eat and can you seperate them from their very protective parents?

Kasey wants to know:


my cichlids had babies and the other ones keep eating them but the parents try to run them off their are not alot of babies like only like 20 their stripped

can i seperate them from their mother and father or is their anything that i can do

do they need to eat something off of their parents or do they eat fish food is their anything else

    Yes you can separate them but separate 1-2 first just to see what happens but also take some water from the tank they are currently in. Most fry start eating flakes and brine shrimp once they have absorbed their egg sacs. The fry will grow rapidly with good water conditions, frequent feeding, and good diets

    First choice - fresh hatrched brine shrimp
    Second choice - finely crushed flake

    I wouldn’t worry too much, Convicts will produce up to 200 fry every month do you really want them all to survive

    If you leave them be some will find stuff in the tank to eat
