Black convict is the smallest species of mouthbrooding herbivore cichlids. Flowerhorn fish is small comparing to others such as oscar…. But Flowerhorn is the strongest killer fish within all cichlids.
Jay, the other answer as you can see clearly don’t know their head from their rear and I think you know enough to disregard that. I find your question to be rather interesting. I’m going to guess it’s among a shell dwelling African, but I can’t think of any particular species. I know Kribs are one of the smaller types, but I’m not positive if they mouthbrood or not and even if they did, I wouldn’t be shocked to find they aren’t the smallest. I’ll check around for you on this one.
On a side note of the crock about the Flowerhorn being most aggressive, I’d be more then happy to match his flowerhorn against a mating Green Terror and see what happens.

the smallest mouthbrooder is The Tropheus sp. Black “Bemba/Pemba” which only gets to be 3″ in length
