funsunjoy wants to know:
I didn’t realize a large size African Cichlid jumped out of the tank and got stuck in between furniture and tank. Over the last few days I couldn’t bare the smell and thought it might be the filter. This morning I found the poor guy dead, smelly and stuck. I obvioulsy managed without getting sick to peel him off and threw him away. NOW I’M STUCK WITH THE SMELL!!

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP TELL ME HOW TO GET THE SMELL OUT OF THE WOOD???????

Try first rubbing alcohol on the furniture, then using some sort of spray-on air freshener.

Try dawn dish soap or wd-40 they both remove cut through oil.

I’m not positive it will do it but I would first try…liquid dish soap and water. If that failed I would mix up a solution of bleach and water; one tablespoon of bleach to one gallon of water. Pour some on a rag and wash the area really good. I would test it first and make sure it won’t hurt the wood, or make it change color.

don’t use bleach on wood! your best bet is just continuous light washes with dish soap or murphys oil soap. just splash it on and wipe it off a few seconds later.
the smell is usually bacteria that will die off and dry up shortly anyway — don’t sweat it too much.
