I got an eel that is about 6 inches long and my African cichlids are biting its fins on the back. I changed the tank around and when they bite his fins the eel trys to get into the rocks. Will this stop? And I do know they are fin nippers. The cichlids are 1-2 inches.
ok I took it out of the tank and put it in my 15 gallon.

I would take the eel out. Cichlids are aggressive fish, and only get along with others of their kinds. My gourami was only semi aggressive, and he killed my German Ram. Cichlids are much more aggressive, so either remove the bully, or the bullied.

Yeah if you want to save your ell, it’s got to be in a different tank. The Cichlids aren’t nipping it’s fins they’re tasting it. There are some things you can do to cut down the Cichlids’ aggression, but if you’re new to the hobby or have a small tank, it’s better just to remove the victim since it’s not a Cichlid.

Take it out. Mabunas will destroy it fast.

How did you manage to keep an eel with hard water african cichlids? They have completely different water quality. Unless you meant a bichir, or polpterus. Becuase ive never heard of and african eel. what kind did you get? Its smart to research about a certain fish before you but it…..
