Paul wants to know:
ok the first question is why do some of my fish like flip and rub on the sid of the gravel or rocks are they ok?
ok and my second question is my male chisumulu stays in the middle of my 55 gallon and the female chisumulu has ben staying around the right side of my tank and i just noticed that she has ben digging a hole under my limestone rock. Is she digging a spawning place if so doesn’t the male do that? they are about an inch long
thx for the answers

Cichlids do not like to rub on the rocks. They do this because they are irritated by poor water quality. this doesn’t mean you are neglecting your fish or their water. I change 25% of my water every week. This helps to keep them happy and not rubbing the rocks.
As for your female digging the hole. I would say that she is indeed making a spawning bed.

African cichlids rubbing on rocks & other decorations in the tank is normal, they also do it as a breeding ritual. Normally the male build’s spawning spot’s but female’s will too.
