Tiny wants to know:
I got a white albino, a few of those electric blue with the black vertical stripes, and some other ones. Basically they all have the same body shape just different colors. Mines are about 3 inches right now, but I saw the same exact fish that are like 7 inches + in the store. In a 55 gallon, how long would it take?

Cichlid’s are mean territorial little fish. I had two together in a 50 gallon tank. After a few days the dominant fish ate all the other fish then massacred the other cichlid. He grew fast after that. I did not like that fish!!!!

well it took my bumble bee cichlid about a year to grow to 6 inches so i would say a year or so. There is fish food actually like turtle food that you feed to your fish and it gets them bigger fast. This stuff is like steroids. Its rather expensive though. I would just wait and see.

Fish really never stop growing. But it takes six months to a year for them to become adults. The size of the tank will effect the size of the fish in most cases. As for that 7″ fish well it might have grown to 7″ in another bigger tank and was moved to the 55 gal. as well. Just something to think about.
