I have african chiclids too!!!!!!! You feed them what you have not too much. Most of them get really shakey and open then mouths every 2 seconds. Don’t worry it’s just stress from being in a new tank.Males have spots on the bottom fin and females don’t have any spots at all.
The answer to that question depends on the type of cichlids you have. Some are very easy to breed, and distinguish gender, but some are not. A little more info on your fish is needed to answer.
