and it worries me that almost everyday another fish disappears
i had 1 demansoni cichlid
3 kenjiys ( 1 male and 2 females)
4 auratus cichlids
and a synodontis catfish

i dont know what the heck is happening with them
if they are dying or if they are fighint over the territory
today i saw something strange( for me)
one of the auratuses were kinda changing color
i have 3 that are yellow/golden with black stripes and the 4th one is getting really really dark( black ) and blue/neon stripes are visible
is that a male??

ooh and i checked the water quality today and everythign is perfect
besides temperature ( it was 82F)
i usually keep my heater on but i turn it off today
all of them are about 2,3 inches long
they dont grow bigger than 4,5 inches

I have a 37 gallon tank. I currently have 1 male and 1 female yellow african cichlids. I want to add more cichlids. I don’t want anymore yellows. I want to fill my tank. So ideas for tanks mate, what species, how many male of female of that species. Id like more than just one idea. So if any one already had a good cichlid setup Id like to hear your ideas of what you may already have.

how do i tell if is a blue acara or a green terror??, because i bet those retards from the store will give me a super aggressive green terror instead of a peaceful acara cichlid, so i need to know how to tell the differences between them, just a few more questions and then im done, are blue acaras shy?, i mean , like , severums?, i dun lyk shy fishes because they hide a lot, and can they live in acidic water? i have driftwood, so the water is kinda acidic for my pleco and bichir. and the last question is, will it get along with an african BROWN ghost knife fish( the ones that grow to 12″ only, NOT THE HUGE BLACK ONES!)

im setting up a 29 gallon small african cichlid tank with only 5 or 6 of the cichlids that get from 4-6 inches long. im going to put in lots of big rocks to decorate.
the tank had ick before thanks to walmart fish, which im not buying any more.
should i replace all the gravel, or should i rinse it with hot tappwater? to get rid of the ick? and hot tapp water the filter and other plants and heater?

im completely redoing the tank and moving it to another room in myhouse

how do i properly cycle it?

should i addone or two cichlids after a few days of it being set up and add like one per week until i have the number needed?
or is it more complex than that?

I didn’t realize a large size African Cichlid jumped out of the tank and got stuck in between furniture and tank. Over the last few days I couldn’t bare the smell and thought it might be the filter. This morning I found the poor guy dead, smelly and stuck. I obvioulsy managed without getting sick to peel him off and threw him away. NOW I’M STUCK WITH THE SMELL!!

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP TELL ME HOW TO GET THE SMELL OUT OF THE WOOD???????

I have a 10 gallon tank with one kenyi cichlid and my friend has a 15 gallon tank with 13 african cichlids each about 3 inches long. He has had the tank for about 6 years with only having one of his fish die. He never has to buy fish for they always breed in his tank. They all seem very happy. I know many of you will say it is overcrowded but listen. How many african cichlids can i put in my tank and which ones would go well with eachother? Please don’t give me a list of expensive fish. Two days ago I bought 1 red jewel cichlid, 1 red zebra cichlid, and 1 electirc yellow cichlid and put them in my 20 gallon tank. Everything was going fine until I noticed about a half hour ago that my zebra and my electric yellow cichlids are both swimming at the very bottom of the tank and keep moving away from the red jewel when he comes near. This just started today and I’m pretty worried. I already did research and found out that my Ph is more preferable for the red zebra and the electric yellow cichlid and my LFS said my water is perfect for African cichlids. My red jewel isn’t being extremely aggressive and I know he prefers a lower Ph than what I have, but he’s swimming around just fine. Should I take my red jewel back or just get my water tested again…?
I’m thinking about taking the jewel cichlid out for a little bit to see if the two others return to normal.. is that a good idea?

QUICK RUN-THRU:
I have a 60 gallon tank of 6 african cichlids (plus plecos and whatnot). It’s been an established tank for probably 2 yrs now. Mostly a happy tank. Often excessive aggression, which is typical of a cichlid tank but I often find ways of distracting them from that. Also breeding does occur in my tank between 2 of them.

QUESTION:
Why do some of my cichlids keep there fins down most of the time? They look awesome up but they tend to keep them down. The water quality is great and upkeep is adequate. So don’t question any of that.

i have cichlids for fish(african).i awoke to see that one of them was dead and others were eating it up.i am not sure if they all did or just a few.i had nothing but almost a skeleton left of the poor thing.is this going to harm the fish that ate from its lifelless body?i have removed it and gave it its proper “burial”.what else do i need to do for the evil ones who did this?

I did a 20 gal water change 3 days ago and the amonia leves are safe the ph is 7.6. I had to go to the pet store to find out what kind of fish I had then more reserach to find out what species. 8 that look like the lemon but are peach color (1.5 - 3″)
5 That look like a kennyjj(?) (3″) Gray/silver body with light vertical black stripes the 4 babys have darker stripes (.5″)
How many can I keep and what do I do with the ones I can’t?
