No. It would last a max of about 2 months in that size tank and then the upgrade would be needed immediately. 75-80 US gallons minimum for the one fish. Oscar tankmates should only be attempted in 100 US gallons plus.

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!. Oscars need a 70 gallon minimum. You could but another 75 gallon tank and put the oscar in there alone or you could just simply not get one. They get fast really quick so they can only stay in your 32 gallon tank for about a couple of months so i recommend getting a muich bigger tank or dont get the oscar at all.

They grow to about ten inches. you might be able to manage it in there for ever, but if the amonia, nitrite, and nitrate go up, you need to get it out of there.

technically the “numbers” (1 inch per gallon) work… but he/she will be very uncomfortable… and probably very stressed… (will die sooner)… so in short… i dont recommended it… i would recommend using at very least 50 gallons…. these fish grow very large… and you need to think long run… they may grow to be almost a foot long in the end…

    hope this helps

YES YES YES U CAN i have my tiger oscar in a 29gallon and its fine it will stunt there growth but its ok it will only take a year off there life dont listen to those ppl that say you need a 70gl there taking your money

just buy extra filteration for it and you’ll be fine and feed him twice every second day live food will mess up the tank more so give him live food as a treat sometimes

and the one inch of fish per gallon is false it would mean i could keep and 3 or 4 oscars in a 40 gallon tank

    and OSCARS RULE!!

No. It would do fine for a little while, but the amount of waste it produces would cause nitrate build-up that would foul the water really quickly, even if you have a great filter and do weekly water changes. Oscars are really cool fish, but they just get too big to be kept in a tank that small.

    Not for very long.

Unless you have a bigger home for the fish dont get it. It will outgrow that size tank in a matter of months.

I suggest you get one of the smaller (but also cool) SA cichlids that could actually live in that tank for life.

you could, but it would be horribly cruel. those fish NEED a 75 gallon aquarium. they simply get too big and produce too much waste.

  9. Mohammad Says:

No oscars are big fish and need atleast 75 gallon per each fish

    Get some bettas

Whoa..people freaking out again. We have two Oscars in a 40 gallon. We’ve had our Oscars for like 6 months and they are growing but not at some superhuman rate.

Truthfully no, I had an Oscar in a 38 gallon tank there was not a whole lot of room to swim. Most books about Oscars recommend a 75 gallon minimum. Mine are in 125 gallon tanks and they are huge.

  12. Brandy E Says:

I had three oscars in a 38 gallon tank and have just upsized their home to a 90 gallon tank. I read that each oscar needs 30 gallons of space each. Most articles suggest 50 gallons for one.75 for two and over 100 for three.

from my experence u can have a oscar in a 32gal tank as long as it come from a tank of the same size or smaller other wise it would be used to a lot more space and get stresst. but yes u will need a gd filteration system.

im getting an oscar for my 35 us gal. tank. my LFS (local fish store) said that 30 gal. is minimum for an oscar, 35 is better, and 50+ is the best.
