No. Cheerios would be very bad for them. You don’t want to give them anything that has been processed, or that has had chemicals added to it, like the crappy foods we eat. Only give them fish food, raw veggies, fruits, and other fish if they’re carnivores or omnivores.

I am Legend, when I said fish I was more referring to worms and shrimp like things. I’ve never fed my fish other fish, or anything live, other than vegetables.

No do not feed them chereeos. That is not fish food and it will foul your tank.

    Not a good choice.

Most fish have trouble digesting animal fat (beef pork etc).

You can buy a packet of frozen shrimps, just keep them in the freezer and defrost a few at a time as a treat. Likewise raw fish can be fed.

Beef heart is OK occasionally as it’s very low in fat.

Depending on the species they may like some veges as well. Worst case is that they wont eat it, and you will have to take it out again.

Oscars are a good omnivore in that they will eat almost anything. Advising offering other fish as a food source is a VERY VERY poor option and should get outright deleted for saying something like that. Not only is feeder fish deficient in many areas, they carry numerous pathogens if bought from a store and lead to hole in the head in fish like Oscars. AVOID THAT OPTION AT ALL COSTS

Peas are not a bag choice on vegetable matter as this will assist in digestion and help clear out any blockages. I’ve found squash sometimes gets good results out of pure herbivoric types of fish. Any number of pellets are out there for you that will do you well in protein and other nutrients. A spiralina coated flake food is a can’t go wrong choice, supplimenting that with bloodworm or brine shrimp cubes off and on as well. Oscars when grown also really get active for smaller crickets too and you can gut load crickets to add nutritional value. Mine used to compete with my Arowana for them.

All in all though, an Oscar is a very happy eater as you’ve noticed so unless you personally just like diversity in the diet, they truly don’t much care. They’ll eat almost anything you offer them.
