Cross breeding depends on several factors… Same families, same looks, availability of suitable partners, the “urge to breed”. So keeping fish from the same families will enlarge the risk, keeping similar looking females will enlarge the risk, keeping too little females enlarges the risk. You can not guarantee they either will or will not cross breed.

well diffrent types of cichlids can breed with other ones but they need to health or they will die in the breeding process, and diffrent types of breeds can be diffrent sizes i belive that it is a female.

I had a mating pair that were of two differnt african cichlid species. they were extremely proliferative! With that type of cross-species mating you may expect the babies to be sterile (though not always- I think I’m convinced one of my babies has mated with a store bought cichlid)
But, short answer: yes they can mate cross-species, but that may not include all species and it is not usually the norm.

yes infact most of cichlid species crossbreed together.
like if you put a male convict with a female texas they will breed and the result would be a convict texas cichlid.
thats why when i buy different types and put then in one tank i try to only buy one type of sex cause if not they will breed like crazy
