Yes that is one of the posted answers I’ve seen in here from 8 in the Corner, my person I go to with questions about mine. That is exactly what he suggests to do to introduce new fish there. Adding more rocks and caves and even moving them around will confuse them to an extent that new territories are estabished and that should reduce any aggression exerted on fish in that community. Shoot 8 in the corner and email to make sure.
Cichlids definitely fight over territory, so adding more rocks and caves will help. But your tank size could also be a limitation. If you overstock a small tank, it won’t matter how many caves there are.
Yes. Africans need lots of caves and hiding spots. If you can make mazes for them they’d like that. Caves and tunnels allow fleeing fish to avoid their chaser. If the fighting does not stop you may need to remove one of the fish before he gets killed. Slightly overstocking (if you have great filtration and do regular water changes) can help spread out the aggression so one fish is not constantly bullied.
Yes it will help but depending on what types of cichlids you have it may not totally solve the problem. You may have cichlids that are very aggressive or incompatible in you tank,if you know what kinds you have maybe you could update this post. Also do you have them in a proper sized tank some of the more aggressive species need a very large tank(50 gallons) and you will have problem if there is not enough space for themto establish a territory. These web sites are good and have lots of profiles and other good information if you aren’t sure what types you have.
